- Manage the clinic patient schedule to maximize service and efficiency while respecting patients' time and strive to provide their clinic services when promised
- Perform medical and care duties as allowed by state law
- Give patients accurate wait times for their appointments and keep them updated before they ask the status of their appointment
- Quickly and courteously answer all internal and external telephone calls; take messages, transfer pages and/or provide information as needed (if applicable)
- Use the proper techniques to checkout each patient quickly and courteously including ringing up payments accurately including insurance co-payments, billing and additional charges for services; receive authorization for payment when required
- Quickly say "hi" and greet each patient with a smile and eye contact; thank each patient at the end of the visit
Requirements
- Successful completion of a Medical Assisting program.
- Assist patients with billing information, receipts and check/charge documents
- Understanding of health insurance: local providers, general plan types, and terminology
- Ability to scan and/or key appropriate information into register and electronic medical record
- Organization, management of supplies, and prioritization of daily work tasks
- Ability to review instructions, reports and information on computer screens and key information on computer
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays, long hours) and regular attendance necessary
